Wong Yen Tin

Stamping Department, Supervisor

staff-05

What are your current job responsibilities?

I work as Supervisor in the Stamping Department. I plan the daily production and personnel arrangements, check whether the machines are operating as they are planned to, and create production result reports each month. Other than that, I support the technicians under me when they are having problems handling the machines, and through solving the problem, I help them develop their learning. I also check every day that the shift handovers are done appropriately.

How have you developed and what experience have you gained since you started working at the company?

I joined the company as Production Operator in the Stamping Department in 1995. Back then, there were only two stamping machines and seven employees. Two years after my joining, I felt that I wanted to learn about many more things, and I applied for a transfer to be a technician. I have now become a Supervisor, in charge of 23 machines. It has been 21 years since I started working at SDI. At work, I keep making efforts to build good relationships with the staff. I have learned communication skills, leadership and technical skills in order to do that.

Your comments and feelings about the company.

I appreciate the varied opportunities SDI has given me. I hope to work as long as I can in this company which is blessed with a comfortable work environment and nice staff, and where I have good coworkers. The company also sends me on training to obtain further knowledge.

Joseph Choo Zhangping

Plating Department, Engineer

staff-06

What are your current job responsibilities?

As Engineer in the Plating Department, I am engaged in the improvement of the plating line, FAI tests and evaluations, failure cost reports and cost reduction activities. I must ensure our products fulfill customer demands or specifications. I also need to deal with customer demands and with problems that occur in production processes. I have now become project leader for the implementation of a new production line. In order to meet the deadline, I am working with vendors and the manufacturing staff.

How have you developed and what experience have you gained since you started working at the company?

As project leader, I have learned how to draw up schedules and implementation plans, and through research into the underlying causes of quality problems, I have learned new ways of taking responsibility. I joined SDI after graduating from university. It's now 5 years since then, and I have learned about human relationships along with all the other varied work.

Your comments and feelings about the company.

I don't have any particular problems with the work at SDI. The many kinds of courses and lectures on health held by the company are all very beneficial. For example, we have created a safe work environment through the use of risk assessment. Workplace risks are identified and measures are taken in order to provide a safe work environment for the employees. As for me, since the work environment is the most important factor in the company, I am happy.
